SW Armor Gallery – RR0-10

Today I do something I’ve never done on this blog – and that’s focus on me! Hypothetical WAR is about the possibilities of Warhammer Online, but with the impending doom of sets being sold for gold I felt the need to brag a little about the achievements made in the good ol’ days. The armor sets in the game are divided into four categories – PQ sets, RvR sets, Dungeon sets, and Kill Quest Sets. The only grouping that spans RR0-100 are the RvR sets, naturally.

So here’s to the Shadow Warrior that has been terrorizing hares on Gorfang for 2+ years – a visual guide to the best looking class of all time; 22 SW armor sets Pre-1.4.0.

How Would You Fix Your Class?

February 20, 2011 2 comments

Did a bit of site maintenance today clearing out almost half my blogroll, sadly many WAR bloggers have disappeared as they shift their interests to other activities.

As an update for Hypothetical WAR (because I know Mythic’s waiting for me to disappear) I’m still working hard on my next super-project, hence my lower posting-rate currently. I’m actually trying to write my posts ahead and organize them and edit them. This project may very well be my final salvo at Mythic, but boy am I making it a massive volley.

So today, as I work on my project, I ask you my readers one simple question: Assuming your class needs fixing, how would you fix your class? I am looking for analytical unbiased approaches to this question. If you only ask for ‘x’ your mirror has, that’s biased; try to think ‘what do they have that I want?’ Please try to keep it to classes you’ve played to level 40.

WAR Old-School

February 19, 2011 2 comments

Today I bring up a request passed on to me through a friend, a request I believe many share. The request is rather simple, though I believe it would be received with some uncertainty from the community due to the recent server mergers. What is the request? Well its Warhammer Online pre-1.3.2 (excluding class balance changes). What was 1.3.2? It was the patch that nixed forts.

While WARs population may be in a gray area and this request may seem counter-intuitive due to the recent server mergers, I think many players would like to see a server where things can start anew. What you’re looking at is a server where character transfers were not allowed; everyone would have to start from scratch, build their gold from scratch, acquire their weapons from scratch. A completely new economy not influenced by players who have been playing the markets for years.

So what you’re looking at is a server where forts still exist and the horrors of 1.4.0 do not. Zone domination timers would simply be reduced to accommodate the zone-locking mechanism because the 2hrs for keeps from before was admittedly too long. No Skaven. No farming resources for rams. Take the best of both worlds and make a server where people can start from fresh and feel like they’re on an even playing field.

Mythic goes Hypothetical?!

February 17, 2011 3 comments

Today James posted a Hypothetical possibility for the future. Have they taken a clue form my blog??  I doubt it, but I appreciate the connection to my blog 😉 What he presented was a scenario where you survive the horde. I would have preferred that he chose another name than ‘Horde Mode Scenario’ the concept in general will most likely scream ‘Rift’ to those who are onto the concept of that game.

Thus far the PvP-ers of WAR (most of those left in WAR…) dislike the proposal because it is another expansion towards PvE (LotD and TI being the two prime examples of failed PvE expansions). Only a few people like the idea, perhaps those who think it will give WAR competitive ground with Rift.

My main concerns with this idea are what is the intent of the ‘Horde Mode SC’? Is it going to drop new currency? Will it give renown for killing mobs? Is it going to be TI style where its PvPvE ? What is the ‘reward’ for this system? As much as I like the idea I fear that it will be a negatively received PvE injection into WAR. People do not want another TI. People do not want more currency. If Mythic wants to implement this they should consider doing it in the PvE lakes at certain PQs, and make it more of an hourly ordeal or something (like the Night of the Demon Moon Bloodthirster PQ) and it can open only in the contested zone OR you can have the wave of mobs emerge to assist the realm with AAO to try and help balance out the fight. If this does end up going live as a sc then its just going to turn into ‘what group has the best AoE set up’ or ‘what group has more aoe sorcs/bws/choppas/slayers/etc.’ and that is not fun.

Tread carefully Mythic. Learn from your successes and failures with Lotd/ToVL and TI. Both were received by the community as expansions, regardless of what you want to call them, and both were received poorly. The community wants bugs fixed and balance. We want to see RvR grow not more opportunities to farm PvE.
