Scenario Matchmaking?

Tap. Tap. Is this thing working? Yes, the Scenario Matchmaking system Mythic claimed to have introduced in 1.4.0… I’ve grown to believe that it indeed does not work. Scenarios are seen as an escape from the drudgery that is RvR, and lets admit it – RvR is boring as dirt. I don’t know how this matchmaking system is suppose to work but I’m getting rather tired of queuing into scenarios full of RR70ish to mid-80 Order versus RR90-100 Destro. Yesterday I was blessed with a succession of mind-blowing-fun scenarios where we were paired against three RR100 Destruction players (WE, DoK, Choppa) and Order’s higher RR was 86. Just one RR100 is sufficient to sway the tide of the scenario to that realms favor, but three? Seriously? Not only that, but I’ve grown to believe that Destro on Gorfang only knows how to play melee DoKs (with pocket healers) and tanks. Mythic should seriously evaluate which classes are played the most and why.

The last one is from Tor Anroc…. and before someone says ‘but what about Order’s classes’ let me assure you of all these scenarios, the highest amount of healers Order had in any was three – on average order has two healers and one tank per scenario. I recently did a city instance with 13 (Yes, Thirteen) DoKs, its a great pity I forgot to screenshot it.

Somehow things never seem… matched up?

On Drakenwald it’s the same situation..I’m not sure if this comforts you 😉

Well.. I would add some Marauders, because people figures out that they are beasts..and can cause quiet an amount of fps-lag for the enemy.

About the matchmaking system there is one thing to add.. don’t forget that it fills up with “non-suiting” characters if there are not enough people in the queue in regard of your rank.

Let’s trade servers. I’ll move my Destro chars to Gorfang, you can come to Karak Norn with your Order ones. Everyone’s happy XD

    I’ll just leave that here.

But it looks like you guys won 😉

It wasn’t whether we won or not, I was merely giving an example of how far back the issues go. This was taken almost a year ago. The scenario matchmaking system has always been a joke.

As far as winning, or bi-winning, it’s simple math. Last year DoK’s couldn’t do the retarded damage they can now and we had an awesome DPS with us. Now a days it would have been a much closer match. Melee DoK’s in the new sets are really powerful.

That must have been awhile ago. You haven’t played in an age and Brewz has been gone for… almost a year? Holy crap.

Is that what’s suddenly causing all my lag? It’s the 4 mauraders all pulling me from 7 thousand feet in serpents passage?

Well..they are using two things.. one is the increased melee-range (felt-range as a ranged career is approx. 50ft melee-range) and another thing some marauders use while pulling is the range-check. if they start the pull within the range and move away, i.e. out of range, they can pull you farther than the actual max. range..

oh ..and on the lag side. it’s the amount of debuffs those marauders are throwing around. hits your fps like a train 😉

call it bug..call it exploit..call it mythic-coding-skill…call it what you like 😉

I constantly see Marauders pulling while on the run, I thought they had to be stationary for that skill…? And yes, half the time I play I am being hit by ‘melee’ attacks beyond 30 feet. Playing a kiting SW is completely negated when melee classes can hit me from 60+ feet on my screen. Or better yet I’ll see a melee charge at me on his mount and I’ll be dead before he dismounts O.o

Marauders can move while casting TE, it’s just that a while back TE was bugged so that it had a very high chance of failing if the Mara was moving while casting. Most marauders acquired a habit of standing still back then, or they’re just nubs. 😛 And yeah WAR’s positional system is and always has been total and utter shit (one of the worst).

Regarding the matchmaking system though, when it was introduced I thought it’s working, but that was probably because I was mostly playing with a premade. After playing solo a few weeks it became apparent that the matchmaking system does nothing 90% of the time.

Mythic have dropped the ball on scenarios pretty much since launch. Crap scenario design, leechers, leavers, more crap scenario design while some good ones removed, tying the weapon system exclusively to scenarios in pretty much that order. While a cross server scenarios are “too hard” to do and matchmaking can’t be changed so it actually works because “there wouldn’t be any pops”. All while refusing to even implement a 6v6 scen so the players could regulate the premades/PuG frequency themselves a bit.

I just can’t see how scens can be any fun for premades or PuGs these days (except the very rare ones).
