Savage Reprisal ~ Shattered Coast

November 30, 2011 Leave a comment

In the darkest days of the elves, the Druchii ravaged the lands and slaughtered their kin. We thought Cothique was safe, with Ellyrion and Chrace between us and Nagarythe, and the armies of Caledor the First in  Yvresse. But then the Druchii came, hacking and slashing their way through Chrace with their aim on our homes in Cothique; behind them came the Khanites. After centuries of peace and prosperity, the Cothiqoi were mariners, traders, shipmakes – not soldiers. The Druchii came, but Caledor did not. Cothique fell, the Asur did not ride north to our aid. The Khainites slaughtered all that did not flee to the Anulii, our cries and death-throes went unheard, unseen, unanswered. When it was too late the army of Caledor came, when all those who had suffered were dead and their blood soaked the land.

And now for the second time the Druhii come to Cothique with their aim to slaughter all of us. We cannot count on the rest of Ulthuan to save us, the past has taught us that bitter lesson. We shall stand, and we shall met the Druchii with spear, shield, and arrow, and they shall know who they face. We are Cothiqoi, and we must be masters of our own fate!

~ Captain Perrian Seaflame of the Cothique Sea Watch

Grim tidings wash upon the shores of Cothique as the Druchii corsair fleet appears on the horizon. Malekith has sworn a pact with Slaanesh – he will unleash the greatest suffering the Asur have seen yet, and for this the armies of Slaanesh will join the ranks of Destruction. Facing certain death, the small fleet of Cothique has sailed forth to engage the larger corsair fleet escorting the Black Ark from Karond Kar. With this act of valor, the Sea Watch hopes to buy the Cothiqoi enough time to flee to the Anulii and seek shelter as they did when the Druchii came the first time.

Now on this jagged coastline the two fleets collide and engage in a brutal battle. One of the corsair ships has been forced into the deadly rocks by a Cothiqoi Hawkship, and while the Cothiqoi sell their lives on the waters, the Druchii fight for their lives on the shoreline.

The Shattered Coast scenario takes place on this unforgiving coastline where the corsair ship has been wrecked against the rocks. With the manticores of Karond Kar and the Griffins of Yvresse soaring in the skies above, the soldiers of the Shining Guard and of House Uthorin engage in the first of many bloody struggles upon Cothique. The Shattered Coast is a king-of-the-hill scenario as both factions vie for the high ground – the High Elves to drive the Druchii into the sea, and the Druchii to establish a foothold in Cothique. The battle for Cothique has begun!

Savage Reprisal

Through a series of horrendous atrocities commited primarily against the High Elves, Malekith has spilled enough blood of the innocents and sent the cries of the tortured into the heavens. Their cries have been heard, though not by some savior; their cries have been heard by Slaanesh, the Dark Prince. The realm of men has not yet seen such suffering like that which is about to visit them when the hosts of Slaanesh arrive. Read more…

Savage Reprisal Intro

Sometimes I catch myself dazing off and dreaming of better days as an apprentice cooper in Altdorf. Then I have to snap back into reality – best not think of those days, drags the soul down to think of brighter times. The war came, Altdorf lay burning, the streets littered with corpses – there was no time to be an apprentice cooper. Lad had to make a quick coin somehow to feed his kin. Took to a life of thieving, was caught quickly, and sent off as a private in the Altdorf ‘volunteers’. No, can’t think of rosier days knowing what hell me and other lads went through.

They sent the newly formed Altdorf Volunteer Regiment, composed of all the vagabonds of the city, to defend the northern frontier of our ally Kislev, Praag. Then the blood-tide came from High Pass… the Bloody Summer of Praag they call it now, but they don’t know what it was like to live through that nightmare. No, can’t think of the past after living through that. ‘Go recuperate with lighter duties in Norsca’ they said. ‘Autumn in Norsca ain’t so bad, its the winter that’ll get yer bones’ they told us. From hell into hellfire they sent us. We thought we’d finished with Khorne back in Praag, but Khorne hadn’t forgotten our boys. That bastard of a false-god sent his zealots after us in Norsca and the bloodshed started all over again. You ask me about how it was before the war, I can’t tell you, those memories are washed away with the gore of Norse savages and my brothers-in-arms.

The boys ask me why I volunteered for this regiment, I say to them ‘Did you volunteer? Well I didn’t either.’ Then they say ‘Well if you didn’t volunteer how did you end up a lieutenant? That ranks for the noble folk.’ Then I tell the boys, ‘When the blood-crazed of Khorne come chargin’ at your regiment and all the officers die, and you’re the highest ranking lad, you get promoted.’ I didn’t want this job, who would want the rank that requires you to command others to fight to die? I spit upon Chaos for startin this whole damn war. Couldn’t those bastard gods stay up in the frigid Chaos Wastes and fight amongst themselves?

Now commands from on up tell us we’re to march to Fort Straghov at the foot of Black Blood Pass, hold it until the Kislevites come to relieve us. The last garrison I’m told was found slaughtered, though strangely enough they lay in a scene resembling a bloody orgy. Messenger told us apparently a band of the most beautiful women visited the garrison late one night, his greatest shame he had to leave and couldn’t stay with his company and the ladies. His loss was his luck. He left and lived, they stayed and died. The women? No sign. Stinks of Chaos I tell you. I ain’t gonna let my boys get gutted like pigs by some crazed Chaos women. Bloody war. You say there were better days before this war? All I can remember is blood… everywhere blood.

Savage Reprisal ~ Pains of War

The High Elves always had a suspicion that Malekith was behind the attacks upon the beasts of Chrace by the beastmasters of Karaond Kar, the abduction of the Everqueen and her newborn daughter by minions of Slaanesh, and the assault upon the vulnerable peoples of Cothique, but what they did not suspect was that there was more to this plot.  Malekith’s plans came to fruition with the Expanding Tide, but what fate did they bode for the world? Expanding Tide ~ Overview

November 25, 2011 Leave a comment

Many had hoped that the war would end eventually, that over time gradually the strength of one side would give out and peace would be achieved by the blood of the fallen. They were wrong. Neither side would give way, and the head-to-head struggles between the different races only grew more intense. Battlefields shifted and countless more innocent lives were thrown into the bloody fray. Hatred like that which drives the forces of Destruction does not simply give up… it grows and consumes more and more. Read more…

Expanding Tide ~ Erengrad

To the men and women of the Empire, north of the Imperial border is the unknown. Few venture beyond their towns in their lives, let alone beyond their provincial borders. All things remotely foreign are completely exotic. To most denizens of the Empire, only one thing comes from the north – Chaos. But this world-view is not entirely true. While Chaos does have its roots in the north, and indeed everywhere around us, between the realm of Chaos and the Empire there still is civilization. That civilization is Kislev. Read more…

Expanding Tide ~ Jotunheim Mountains

November 23, 2011 Leave a comment

Save for the World’s Edge Mountains and other key mountain chains, the Old World is a land ruled by humans. From the king of Bretonnia to the Tsarina of Kislev, mankind’s societies hold sway over much of the Old World. There is one region however where men are not subject to the wills of monarchs, but instead allow their minds to bend to the will of Chaos, this land is Norsca. Read more…

Expanding Tide ~ Zhufbar

November 22, 2011 Leave a comment

In the south-east corner of the Empire, the Black Mountains join the World’s Edge Mountains, and at their junction is the massive lake Black Water. Of the two dwarven holds which use to dominate Black Water, only one remains in dwarven hands – the other having fallen to the foul forces of chaos. Twin holds they once were, but now only Zhufbar stands proud, keeping an ever watchful eye towards the west. Read more…

Expanding Tide ~ Cragmere

November 21, 2011 Leave a comment

At the junction of the Black Mountains and the World’s Edge Mountains there is a grand lake formed when a meteor slammed into the mountains and snow-melt subsequently filled the crater, this lake is called Black Water. At this critical junction of the mountains the dwarves call home, two twin-Holds were founded; the westernmost one being Karak Varn. Read more…
